HIS ENERGY · INTEGRATED BESS
BESS repowering for existing solar parks and energy sites
Make effective use of existing grid access, transformers and space. HIS reviews the installed infrastructure and defines the appropriate storage architecture, from direct 800 V integration to modular 5 MWh containers with PCS and MV options.
Why add storage to an existing energy site?
Storage can shift generation, manage export peaks and support trading or grid services where eligible. Adding a battery does not automatically increase the permitted grid import or export capacity.
HIS assesses transformers, switchgear, cables, protection and PCS before proposing replacement. Separating reusable, adapted and new equipment supports realistic costs and clear responsibilities.
Three technical routes
Direct 800 V AC integration
The PowerPack 800V combines 1.672–3.344 MWh with 800–1,600 kVA in a preconfigured 20-foot container. Suitable 800 V infrastructure may avoid an extra transformation stage.
Modular L20 containers
A liquid-cooled 5,015 kWh DC battery block, with Sinexcel or SMA PCS and a project-specific AC/MV architecture.
New AC / MV extension
Where existing equipment is unsuitable, HIS can define an updated PCS, transformer, MV and EMS scope.
What the existing-site assessment covers
- Grid voltage, contracted power, single-line diagram and protection concept
- Transformer and switchgear ratings, spare capacity and condition
- PV capacity, inverters, AC voltage, cables and LV distribution
- Operating data, curtailment and charging windows
- Space, access, foundations, noise and fire protection
- Application, storage duration, dispatch model and commissioning date
From first enquiry to a defined project
- Technical review: assess grid data, existing components, objectives and indicative size.
- System and interface design: coordinate battery, PCS, EMS, transformer, MV and retained equipment.
- Offer and implementation: define supply, commissioning and service and warranty options.
Installation and civil-work responsibilities remain with the agreed installer or EPC unless expressly included in the HIS offer. Explore installer and EPC support.
Questions about this BESS solution
Must the existing transformer station be replaced?
Not necessarily. HIS checks voltage, power, fault withstand, protection, spare bays and condition before deciding whether it can be reused.
When is direct 800 V integration suitable?
Where compatible 800 V AC infrastructure is present or planned, subject to grid, protection and system compatibility checks.
Can existing PCS equipment be reused?
This depends on DC voltage window, power, communications, certification and remaining life. A new Sinexcel or SMA configuration can be assessed where necessary.
What project sizes can be considered?
Options range from the 1.672–3.344 MWh PowerPack 800V to combined 5,015 kWh containers. Around 30 MWh is the commercial focus, not a fixed technical limit.
Which documents are useful for the first assessment?
A single-line diagram, grid details, transformer and inverter data, PV capacity, site plan and intended use are useful. MW/MWh can be provided if known; missing details need not prevent an initial enquiry.
