HIS ENERGY · INTEGRATED BESS
Large-scale battery storage from 5 MWh
Modular BESS for utility, solar and industrial projects. HIS designs systems around the 5,015 kWh HISbatt L20 container, with Sinexcel or SMA power conversion and optional transformer, medium-voltage switchgear and EMS scope.
Match capacity to the grid and operating model
Our current commercial focus is on projects up to approximately 30 MWh. This is not a technical upper limit: the platform can be combined modularly. Power, storage duration, grid access and application determine the final plant size.
Define the business case before fixing the container count. Assess import/export capacity, dispatch strategy, usable energy, losses, auxiliaries and operating restrictions.
HISbatt L20 technical overview
- Liquid-cooled CALB LFP cells; 96 modules
- Three-level HIS BMS
- 5,015 kWh installed energy per 20-foot container
- Charge and discharge rate: 0.5 C
- 8,000 cycles at 90% usable DoD to 70% end-of-life capacity
- IP55 enclosure; C4 corrosion category
- Operating temperature: −30 °C to +50 °C
- Dimensions: 6,058 × 2,438 × 2,896 mm
- Weight: approximately 47 tonnes
Ratings and environmental suitability are subject to the final project design and applicable documentation. Actual life depends on operating conditions.
Select the delivery scope
DC battery block
Container with HIS BMS, liquid cooling, sensors and fire protection for integration into an agreed PCS architecture.
Battery and PCS
Sinexcel or SMA conversion, sized for power, C-rate, redundancy and grid requirements.
AC / MV system scope
Optional transformer, MV switchgear, protection concept, LV distribution and HIS EMS with defined interfaces.
HIS supports system integration, commissioning and service. Civil works, foundations, lifting and installation responsibilities are agreed with the installer or EPC and included in HIS scope only where expressly offered. Review project delivery responsibilities.
Applications for multi-MWh storage
- Solar hybridisation and PV-park repowering
- Arbitrage and energy trading through an appropriate partner
- Grid services, subject to technical eligibility and market requirements
- Industrial peak shaving and large EV charging loads
- Municipal and utility flexibility projects
- Reuse of suitable transformers, PCS and existing site infrastructure
HIS EMS coordinates operating priorities and agreed trading interfaces. Market access and revenues depend on the project and commercial arrangements.
Information for a reliable project design
Where available, share the site, commissioning date, grid voltage and available power; target MW/MWh or duration; AC/DC coupling; PCS preference; transformer and MV scope; existing solar/wind equipment; application and trading partner; space, access, noise and fire-protection constraints; and a single-line diagram.
You can enquire before these details are known. We clarify missing inputs during technical qualification.
Questions about this BESS solution
Is 30 MWh a technical limit?
No. It describes the current commercial focus, not a technical ceiling. Containers can be combined modularly, with final size determined by project engineering.
Can HIS use Sinexcel or SMA PCS?
Yes. Selection depends on grid requirements, target power, redundancy and customer preferences. Compatibility is confirmed for the offered system.
Can HIS supply the transformer and MV equipment?
An optional AC/MV scope can include transformer, switchgear and EMS. Supply, installation and commissioning responsibilities are defined in the offer.
Is the L20 suitable for solar-park repowering?
It can be assessed at sites with existing grid access, transformers or space. HIS reviews connection data, voltages, installed equipment and the operating model first.
What service and warranty options are available?
Project-specific warranty, remote monitoring, maintenance and spare-parts concepts can be offered. Binding coverage is defined in the individual offer and contract.
